Kaylyn collected these “Elk Points” and 30 min later we spotted this girl and her herd 3 miles away. They were watching us that far away! Went around the mountain, parked and stalked in 1.2 miles across 4 ridges to get the wind right in stealth mode and took us an hour and a half.
We got into 60 yards and they had no clue! I was wishing I had my bow and the tag. She made a Perfect shot. How could it not at 60 yards, zero rush. We were so close it zipped clean through her and kicked up a dust cloud behind her. I thought she missed and called “high”. She fell dead at 10 feet. That was a great day! Everyone’s Elk tags filled but mine. I am perfectly content with that. I do have 5 more days on my cow tag though 😉 pretty sure all my general bull areas are closed. It has been more than I deserve. I do still have Lion and Wolf tags (a blessed guy can still have dreams 😃)
And so it begins, packing grub for a 7 day solo whitetail muzzleloading hunt in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia on public land!
Maine Moose success. Saw some nice bulls but only had a cow tag. Our first moose ever . Great folks and highly recommend bucket list. You can hunt with a partner and both or either shoot the moose. We both hit the moose to take it down. The full moon was like a sun at night! 80 miles of dirt road to camp
