This is what makes bowhunting special. I love the chess match. I love the stalk, the ambush and the struggle. The difference between success and failure in this moment is razor thin. There are few things in our decadent modern lives that capture our focus like this moment. First of all, it's rare to be able to observe a herd of elk at this range--all hunters strive for these moments but we often only get one or two of these encounters per season. And although a hunter can observe elk in a park or a wildlife refuge, it's a far different experience in the wild when you have a bow in your hand and you're trying to take a life--the stakes are different. Human beings are built for this--our DNA is programmed for hunting. "Hunting is how many of us fall in love with nature. Hunting is the generator of our human condition, the crucible of intellect, and the fire of creativity. Hunting is an immersion; a drowning in connectedness that squanders pride and privilege; the true hunter is the humble man, the enthralled child and the knowing prince. All is ready, nothing is restive; all is rhythm, nothing is in friction. Hunting knows why the senses were made! It displaces both the practical and the excess. It represents evenness, oneness and the knowledge of self. Hunting is a cataclysm of inward progress. We hunt for spiritual reasons; we hunt to find inner peace; we hunt to understand the world. Hunting is our first great myth!" @conservation_visions

First off — good luck to everyone heading out for hunts this fall. Can’t wait to see your photos, stories, and the action roll in here in the Hideout.
Over the next 4–6 weeks, Brian and I will both be in and out w/ hunts. But we want to keep the Hideout rolling with our weekly livestreams.
Here’s the plan:
🎥 Brian’s going to try streaming live straight from the mountain.
• Depending on the hunt and conditions, he may have to bail last minute — but we’re sure going to try.
• Please be patient and keep an eye on the posts for updates.
Plan on the same nights / same times as usual.
For the weeks we’re able to pull this off, there will be giveaways, but because i won't be able to be on at the same time, we’ll run those later in the week and post winners right here in the member chat.
Thanks for sticking with us, and for being part of this community.
Stay gritty,
– Travis & Brian
